UPDATE: Loki Link Builder Is No Longer Available
My current recommended alternative is SENukeX TNG.
Getting SEO backlinks can be both a pain and very time consuming. A while back, probably more than a year ago, I promoted a WordPress plugin called Web Traffic Genius [no longer available]. It’s a plugin I used on all my blogs as it created an RSS feed for each post I made, with additional articles I specified being added to each RSS feed as they were created. It was a great way to build ongoing backlinks to my sites as each time a post was published, that meant a load of new backlinks to my site would be added, all on autopilot.
Then along came the Google Penguin update, which I’ve written about previously on this very blog.
The guys who created the Web traffic Genius plugin ran some tests after that algorithm update and what they found was that backlinks created through promoting RSS feeds, as Web Traffic Genius did, actually didn’t do anything to help your site rankings. It didn’t do anything to harm them either but there’s always the possibility that Google would introduce another algorithm update in the future that would target that method if backlinking, and penalize sites for it.
There’s no suggestion that that will happen, but they did consider it as a remote possibility. And, with that in mind, they decided to call time on the Web Traffic Genius plugin. I was actually alerted to this by Mike Johnson over at Profit.FM [no longer operating]. If the Web Traffic genius guys sent out an email to their customers, I missed it.
So another useful backlinking tool bites the dust. Web Traffic Genius will still do its thing, but the plugin is no longer available for sale and support for it will be withdrawn on July 21st.
Thankfully, another backlinking plugin has come along, just in the nick of time…
The Loki Link Builder plugin was released on July 12th to little fanfare yet what it offers deserved more exposure I think.
What the plugin does is build automated backlinks to your site and any other pages you may have created to promote your site – things like Squidoo pages, Hubpages, YouTube channels, etc. So long as you have the URL of a page promoting your site, you can get automatic backlinks to it with Loki Link Builder.
But this link building software also builds backlinks to the backlinks it creates. So you get all these link pyramids created totally on autopilot. And that’s a huge time saver.
It doesn’t mean that it’s the only tool you should use for creating backlinks. But it will enhance other tools and sites you use for your backlinking strategies in addition to building links of its own.
I tried it out on one of my primary sites which tanked after the Penguin update. Every day, the site was getting fewer and fewer visitors and it continued to fall in the search engine rankings. I installed the Loki Link Builder plugin just 5 days ago and traffic has more than doubled in just that time. Now I did add in a load of URLs and RSS feeds that contain articles and such that promote my site into the plugin, so I’m sure that helped. Nevertheless, my traffic is up to where it was before the Penguin update (in fact it’s a little bit better).
Given how the plugin has performed on that one site in such a short amount of time, I’m now in the process of adding it to all my WordPress blogs.
Head straight over the sales page if you’re sold on this plugin already.

All the best,
Gary Nugent
