A question I’m frequently asked is “What is the best marketing course I can buy?”
To which my answer is: “Well, what kind of online business are you interested in doing?”
Most people think about selling products through websites when they think about starting an online business. That’s the affiliate marketing model.
Ten years ago, it was pretty easy to make money online this way. Today, it’s more difficult. It relies hugely on being able to drive quality, targeted traffic to your website. You can do that with what’s called Search Engine Optimization (SEO) – priming your site so it will appeal to the search engines, especially Google and building quality backlinks to your site to give it some authority. It all takes time.
The other approach is to buy traffic by placing ads on Adwords, Facebook, etc. While results are faster, it obviously costs real money up front. And if you’re starting out, you may not have money you can devote to advertising.
So here’s a roundup of the best marketing courses for different ways to make money online…
#1 Wealthy Affiliate
If you want to become an affiliate marketer then Wealthy Affiliate is, hands-down, the best affiliate marketing training course available. I have an in-depth review of it here.
There is a lot to learn where affiliate marketing is concerned and simply slapping up a site and pointing some traffic to it doesn’t cut it these days. This course will guide you through everything you need to learn.
It’s not just a training course though. Members can also build up to 50 websites on secure web servers and get SSL certificates (so you can use the https:// prefix in web addresses) at no additional cost.
There’s an active community of over 1,000,000 members, all eager to help each other out, regular weekly (recorded) webinars and course content is always kept bang up-to-date. Terrific support too.
You can sign up as a free member, take the first module of training and build 2 websites without any commitment.
Cost: $47/mth or $349/yr.
I believe in this course so much (I’ve been a member since 2015) that I’ve put together a bonus package worth about $4,500 if you decide to become a Premium member. You can check out the bonuses on offer here.
Affiliate Program
Wealthy Affiliate has its own affiliate program. Free (Starter) members earn 25% commissions whereas Premium members earn 50% commissions.
#2 Proven Amazon Course
If you prefer the idea of building a business selling products on Amazon (as opposed to being an Amazon affiliate), then this is the best course to get.
Created by Jim Cockrum, this course has been responsible for the creation of several millionaires. There are other Amazon seller courses out there, but this one has 10x the success rate of any of the others. There’s a review here.
Members also get free access to several other courses created by Cockrum and his team that are sold separately. So there’s huge value in this course that might not be evident at the outset.
Not only that, but access to new courses is routinely provided to members as time goes by.
Course material is constantly being updated and added to so this course never goes stale or out of date. Training and support are first-rate too.
Cockrum runs a regular free podcast here so have a listen to some of those first to get a flavor of him, his guests, team and courses.
You can also join his Facebook Group for free and see some live video training in there.
Try out the Proven Amazon Course free for 30 days, no restriction to see if it’s right for you.
Cost: $399 one-time payment.
Affiliate Program
Jim Cockrum runs an affiliate program for his extensive range of products. Commissions are 35% for products over $100 and 25% for products under $100. His products range in price from a few dollars up to several hundred dollars.
#3 The Complete Ebay Marketing System
If you’d prefer to sell stuff on Ebay instead of Amazon, then this is the course for you.
You’d think that selling on Ebay is as simple as listing a product and waiting for it to sell but there’s a lot more behind-the-scenes stuff you need to learn to improve your chances of running successful auctions and buy-it-now sales.
Most people start out on Ebay by selling off things they no longer need. But that’s a limited resource. What do you do when you want to find more items to sell and how do you scale your business?
This course will teach you where to source goods at wholesale prices that you can easily sell for profit on Ebay and how you can scale your business effectively.
Skip McGrath is the guy behind this course and he keeps his course material updated as Ebay makes changes on its platform. He also provides a current list of domestic (USA) and foreign wholesalers that make the job of finding goods to sell so much easier.
McGrath provides a free newsletter that you might like to check out before you commit to buying his course.
Cost: $147 one-time payment.
Affiliate Program
McGrath also runs an affiliate program here. Commissions are 25% to 40% of each sale (depending on the item). Products range in price from $5 to $228.
#4 List Multiplier
Building an email list is something everyone who runs a business online should do. Unfortunately, many people overlook or ignore this aspect of doing business because they think it’s too hard or too technical.
However, having your own list means you own that business asset and you’re not subject to the whims of the search engines and their algorithm changes.
A list allows you to build a relationship with your subscribers and customers which helps you make sales in the long run. It also allows you to market to the same people over and over again (in an ethical way) and so get repeat customers.
If you simply run an affiliate website and rely only on sales made through your pages, you’re not getting a lot of repeat traffic that way and you’re literally leaving money on the table.
Sarah Staar is one of the UK’s most successful affiliate marketers and her online business didn’t bloom until she took list building and email marketing seriously.
Now she teaches her techniques to willing students.
She runs a regular webinar here that shows you how to build a list of 1,000 subscribers in 30 days using free traffic.
Her List Multiplier course, where she teaches her inside tactics, is available at the end of the above webinar. By attending you’ll know if list building really is something you want to pursue and if Sarah should be your teacher.
Cost: $997 one-time payment (the webinar is free).
Affiliate Program
Sarah does run an affiliate program but is costs $1,997 (one-time fee) to become one of her affiliates. She’s only interested in having serious marketers come on board.
All the best,
Gary Nugent
