What Is The Hardest Thing About Being An Affiliate Marketer

The hardest thing about being an affiliate marketer is dealing with the failures.

And every marketer has them.

Failures include:

  1. Badly researching your intended audience. That might mean you end up targeting the wrong demographic or not realising that while you’ve found exactly the right kind of audience, they just don’t spend money in your niche.
  2. Building a website to promote products that just never gets any traction despite your best efforts.
  3. Having your website drop in ranking (so less visitors = less sales) because your competition is better at the SEO game or Google tweaks its algorithms again and your site falls foul of them for some reason.
  4. Picking the wrong

Mentor Cover Image

Finding a quality affiliate marketing mentor can be something of a challenge. In this video, I talk about the factors to look for and those to avoid when choosing a mentor.

If you want to learn affiliate marketing, getting a mentor is important – you want to learn from an entrepreneur who’s had success and replicate that by following what they teach.

Discovering the affiliate marketing strategies that your mentor uses is a much faster route to success than trying to figure out things on your own.

A quality mentor will also teach you the importance of mindset for success. It’s an often overlooked aspect of affiliate marketing for business.

The Goal of Passive Income

The Holy Grail of affiliate marketing is to earn passive income – a steady stream of money that rolls into your PayPal and bank accounts. An income stream that you can predict and rely upon, month after month. A source of moolah that you don’t have to actually work for.

That is the dream, isn’t it?

How Affiliate Marketers Actually Work

Most affiliate marketers are lazy. I know I am. We want to earn instant commissions on sales made through our websites. More traffic equals more sales, right?

Well, there are several major problems with this business model:

  1. You’re basically hoping that your

Internet Marketing

This (the title of this post) is a question I was asked recently. Here’s my answer…

Internet marketing is the broad term that describes selling goods and services online.

Affiliate marketing – probably the most common type of internet marketing – is a subset of this.

Here, you only sell other people’s goods and services (not your own) but for a commission. Affiliate marketers are effectively online salesmen.

So, is there a future in internet marketing?

In a word: Absolutely.

About 3 billion people – less than half the world’s population – has regular access to the internet. That’s due to change in the coming years as a globally accessible internet …

Affiliate Marketing

While it’s a good idea to have your own website when doing affiliate marketing, you don’t need to have one. But being a blogger means that you do have a website where you post regularly. That may be one you own, or it may be a site on one of the free blogging platforms out there. If you’re not posting content regularly somewhere, then you’re not really a blogger.

That said, you can always just join affiliate programs and promote the raw affiliate links they give you.

This isn’t the best idea though for these reasons:

  1. Some platforms (like Facebook and Instagram) will routinely block you from posting affiliate links.
  2. Some paid

How Affiliate Marketing Works

Spencer Mecham made the video below about how to get started in affiliate marketing.

Why should you listen to him instead of anyone else?

Because he’s Clickfunnels®’ #1 affiliate.

Spencer is a Dream Car winner in the Clickfunnels® affiliate program. That means he’s recruited at least 100 people into Clickfunnels®. And for that, he’s given $500 per month – in addition to his regular commissions – to cover payments on the car of his choice.

With that number of referrals, I estimated he’d be earning somewhere between $3,880 and $11,880 per month, just in commissions.

The reason for the big difference in potential income is because Clickfunnels® has two price points …

I originally published this post here on my other website – EmailListBuildingTechniques.com, which (obviously 🙂 ) deals with email marketing and list building – and it seemed like a good idea to repost it here since it’s all about affiliate marketing training courses.

This isn’t an exhaustive list of courses as I don’t know every one in existence. It is, however, a list of of courses I have used myself, so I can vouch for them.

Bear in mind that not all courses, however good they are, will suit all people. Teaching styles vary. Some people prefer to absorb information by reading, others through watching video.

What course will suit you …

Internet TV For Personal Profit

TV Boss Fire isn’t a product I’d heard of until one of my email subscribers asked my opinion on it and if it provided a worthwhile business opportunity.

With so many products coming out each day in the Internet Marketing niche it’s impossible to keep tabs on everything! 🙂

While I haven’t bought the product and therefore haven’t been able to review it properly, I had a look at what the product does based on information on the sales page and on the upsells pages.

So, based on that thin information, yeah it looks like there’s a business opportunity there but with some caveats…

This is a Software as a Service (SAAS) …
